Next Tuesday 12 June is the opening of a charity exhibition put together by Gibson Guitars in aid of three charities, the Princes Trust, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and Teenage Cancer Trust. Gibson Guitartown London involves 30 specially made 10 foot free standing fiberglass Gibson Les Paul guitars and 30 regular sized Gibson SG’s that have been designed and hand painted by some of the UK’s top visual artists including Sir Peter Blake, Gerald Scarfe and Andrew Logan.
Each guitar has been signed and endorsed by a famous musician including Paul Weller, Slash, Ronnie Wood, Rod Stewart, Noel Gallagher, Mark Knopfler, Roxy Music, Bruce Dickinson, Brian May, Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne and KT Tunstall among many others. The 30 10 foot guitars will go show next week at MoreLondon, the area along side the Thames outside London’s City Hall near Tower Bridge and the 30 regular size Gibson SG’s will go on display at the O2 Arena in Greenwich.
Guitar Town London runs until 21 September then all the guitars will be auctioned off and the proceeds spilt between the three charities.
