Dulwich Festival 2007

dulwich.jpgThe Dulwich Festival was started in 1993 by a group of local volunteers with the aim of making ‘a broad variety of artistic and cultural events easily accessible to all those who live, work, study and visit the Dulwich area.’

This year’s festival runs from 11-20 May and features art exhibitions, concerts, gigs, comedy shows, dance classes, film shows, guided walks and talks among other activities. Some events require tickets, lots of others are free.

One of the main things happening this Sunday is the Festival Fair, on at Goose Green not far from East Dulwich station and featuring participants from local independent shops, bars and cafés, craftspeople and designers, selling everything from handmade children’s tee-shirts to homemade fudge and designer jewellery to handicrafts. They’ll be free entertainment for kids and beer tents for adults.

Music will be provided by dance music collective Elusive Wax and admission to the Festival Fair, on from 11am-4pm, is free. East Dulwich is about three miles directly south of Tower Bridge, near the Peckham area of South London.
