Lords Hotel London Review
Located in the quiet Nothing Hill neighborhood in Central London, Lords Hotel is excellent for any type of traveler. Whether you are a budget traveler or a family staying in London during the vacation, this hotel is the perfect choice. And although it’s located in Central London, it offers rooms for all budgets.
The hotel is located very close to three tube stations; Paddington Station is 15 minutes away (if you figure out the direct route, otherwise it will take longer). Queensway on Central Line and Bayswater on the Circle and District Lines are also a short walk away. And knowing that it’s located in Bayswater area surely helped when we got from Paddington Station to the hotel (when we arrived; from the second day we used the Bayswater and Queensway stations).
In the Bayswater area you’ll find every cuisine you might want to try. There are also shops where you can buy all you need. The hotel does offer continental breakfast included in the price and the room service is also available during the day (the prices are quite low).
Bayswater area is located in the City of Westminster, in west London , bordering the north of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. You’ll be a 30 minutes walk away from Buckingham Palace (and I do mean a lovely walk in the parks) and the other important sites. If you prefer the tube, just get a day pass (£6.60 during the off-peak) and start exploring London.
I’ve stayed at Lords Hotel in March 2011. The only thing I didn’t like was the Internet, or lack there of. They told us it was free and we got the user and password for the wi-fi connection, but the access point was down for the entire stay and no one bothered to fix it.
I liked the breakfast room but the noisy hotel guests made it a bit of a challenge to actually enjoy the meal (during the last couple of days, thankfully). Still, it was quiet at night, which is great if you want to catch a good night’s sleep.
I booked the room via a local travel agent (in the country of residence) which made it possible to pay €220 euros for 4 nights for 2 persons (twin room, bathroom ensuite), breakfast included. I also booked the room in advance (in January 2011 for our stay in March).
The personnel were nice and they answered our questions. We asked whether we can catch the tube at 6 a.m. for our flight back home (we had to change at King’s Cross /St. Pancras to take the train to London Luton Airport). And they also helped with research to figure out when we can watch the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace (since the Internet on our floor was dead and the free wi-fi was just as stubborn in the pubs).
