Carbon Calculator
On the day its reported that China has overtaken the US as the biggest emitter of carbon dioxide, here in the UK the Department of the Environment has launched a new online CO2 Calculator for people to get an idea of the carbon footprint they’re leaving due to their everyday actives at home.
You input some basic information such as type of house, how many people live there, how many rooms, how you heat the property, how much your energy bills are, whether you’re using any renewable energy or if the house is insulated and a few more variables, and it works out roughly how much carbon heating your home produces. There are similar sections on the appliances you use in your home and your personal travel. Below is a clip of Environment Secretary David Miliband explaining the carbon calculator and its purpose.
