More London Free Music Festival

scoop.jpgThere’s a month of open air free music events taking place this July in The Scoop, the sunken area on the banks of the Thames next London’s City Hall. They’ll be lunchtime and evening performances every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday throughout the month, no tickets are required, you can just turn up, find a step to sit on and enjoy the show. Here’s what’s on the schedule.

4 July
12.30pm-2pm – The Greg Heath Trio Classic sax-led Jazz from this Kiwi-born and now internationally renowned sax player.
6.30pm-9.30pm – The Flash Monkey The Flash Monkey brings a mix of the burlesque and extra-ordinary to the Scoop accompanied by their resident house band.

5 July
12.30pm-2pm – Sunnie Dae and Her Hot Kats A unique set of US & Caribbean Blues dating from as far back as 19th Century plus Jamaican Mento folk songs from the 1930s & 1940s.
6.30pm-9.30pm – Osvaldo Chacon y Su Timba A regular at Momo’s Kemia Bar and the European festival circuit, this talented Cuban vocalist and his Timba band will be playing the hottest Afro-Cuban tinged Salsa.

6 July
12.30pm-2pm – Jimmie Bone Songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Jimmie Bone play’s an acoustic set in the sunshine.
6.30pm-9.30pm – The AllStars with Special Guests Session super-group, The AllStars showcase their elite 13-piece Funk Soul band made up of the cream of Europe’s musical talent, plus a very special guest.

11 July
12.30pm-2pm – RDA Recommended Daily Allowance fuse elements of ska, folk and pop with subtle vocal harmonies.
6.30pm-9.30pm – Hinda Hicks Tunisian born Hinda Hicks boasts 3 MOBO and 2 Brit award nominations from the two top-20 singles on her debut album released in 1998.

12 July
12.30pm-2pm – Laura Jayne This award-winning singer-songwriter supported by the EMI Music Sound Foundation presents a set of her acoustic compositions.
6.30pm-9.30pm – The Lord Large Experiment A great mix of high intensity vintage soul and Motown stomp.

13 July
12.30pm-2pm – Erica Steenkamp A blend of lyrical poetry and hypnotic hooks set to laid back, folk and blues influenced grooves.
6.30pm-9.30pm – The AllStars with Special Guests The AllStars return for their second concert at the Scoop.

18 July
12.30pm-2pm – The Speedo Horns Play some gentle Jazz over lunch time.
6.30pm-9.30pm – Speedometer One of London’s finest funk bands.

19 July
12.30pm-2pm – The Sound Live Project A showcase for young talent from the Prince’s Trust Sound Live Project.
6.30pm-9.30pm – Elements Cuttie Williams leads some of London’s finest Reggae musicians through a celebration of the classic revival sound.

20 July
12.30pm-2pm – Lament Laid-back soulful Latin music.
6.30pm-9.30pm – The AllStars featuring Special Guests The AllStars take to the stage for their Summer residency at the Scoop at More London.

25 July
12.30pm-2pm – Swing Thing Jump Jive led by legendary double bass player Rob Rieckenberg and Guitar/Vocalist Pete Kershaw.
6.30pm-9.30pm – Imelda May Dublin-born Imelda May, one the of the finest vocalists to emerge from the UK Roots music scene.

26 July
12.30pm-2pm – The Troubadours Original songs and classic covers all in a laid back jazz / pop style.
6.30pm-9.30pm – Mammoth Power trio playing classic blues and rock covers from The Police to Hendrix.

27 July
12.30pm-2pm – Pacifico Blues Harmonica-led classic Blues grooves featuring Chris Newland on guitar, Andy Robertson on drums and British blues-harp maestro Paul Pacifico.
6.30pm-9.30pm – The AllStars featuring Special Guests The AllStars bring MoreMusic 2007 to a climax with the final concert of their summer residency.
